The coolest shoes in the history of cinema belonged to Marty McFly. If you’re a child of the 80s, nostalgia is kicking in right now.
In 1989 acclaimed Nike designer Tinker Hatfield created the self-lacing Nike Air Mags featured in Back To The Future II, which in the movie, Marty McFly wore in a future 2015. On March 16th at Nike’s “Innovation For Everyone” event in New York, Nike debuted the EARL (Electro Adaptive Reactive Lacing). They’re not exactly the Marty McFly kicks we always wanted. A 150 limited-edition pairs (which sold at auctions benefitting Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s charity) were released. The first pair sold for $37 500!! According to Nike, the auction raised $4.7 million. Since then, the rumour mill has been in warp speed. Michael J Fox debuted a pair on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Oct 21, 2015 the date Marty McFly traveled to the future.
